Diouf in Leeds frame

Leeds striker El-Hadji Diouf could make his first appearance of the season in the derby clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Diouf has been troubled by an infected shin and missed the first three games, but boss Brian McDermott hinted he could be included in the squad.

McDermott has no new injury or suspension problems, but right-back Sam Byram remains sidelined due to a hip problem that may yet require surgery.

Summer signing Noel Hunt is expected to resume up front alongside Luke Varney, with Ross McCormack employed in a deeper role, while both Michael Brown and Michael Tonge may have to settle for places on the bench again following the return last week of Rudy Austin from suspension.

Sheffield Wednesday defenders Reda Johnson and Lewis Buxton are hoping to make their first appearances of the season.

Johnson (tendonitis) and Buxton (shin splints) both returned to full training this week and are expected to be involved as the Owls chase their first league points of the season.

Midfielder Giles Coke could also return to contention after missing last week's home defeat to Burnley through illness, but defender Joe Mattock (knee) is not expected back in action for another three weeks.

The Owls will also be without winger Jermaine Johnson, who sits out the second game of a three-match ban following his dismissal in the recent Capital One Cup defeat to Rotherham.
