Fox hunting ban for Smith

Leeds will be without suspended striker Matt Smith for their home game against Championship leaders Leicester.

Smith was shown a straight red card following an aerial challenge in last week's thrashing at Sheffield Wednesday and the club were unsuccessful in their appeal against his three-game ban.

Recent signings Jimmy Kebe and Cameron Stewart are hoping to make their home debuts on their respective wings, while manager Brian McDermott may make one or two other tactical changes following the 6-0 drubbing at Hillsborough.

Leading goalscorer Ross McCormack will skipper the side for the first time after taking over the captain's armband this week from midfielder Rudy Austin.

Kevin Phillips is expected to be included in the Leicester squad.

Phillips joined the Foxes on Wednesday and the 40-year-old striker could be on the bench at Elland Road for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off. Winger Riyad Mahrez is also available for selection after signing from French club Le Havre since the 4-1 home win over Derby.

Striker Chris Wood made his return from a hamstring injury as a substitute against the Rams last Friday and has suffered no reaction, but Paul Konchesky is nursing a knock sustained in that game and the left-back will be assessed. Ignasi Miquel is also a doubt.

Defender Sean St. Ledger (groin) and young striker Tom Hopper (shin) remain out.
