Wood back in the frame as Leeds bid to bounce back

Leeds striker Chris Wood is back in contention for the home game against Bristol City.

Wood has missed the last four matches due to a hamstring injury sustained in the recent home draw against Derby but returned to full training on Thursday and will be monitored.

Head coach Steve Evans, whose side have lost their last two matches, will assess several players who have bumps and bruises but is hoping to choose from the same squad, plus the addition of Wood.

Midfielders Alex Mowatt and Tom Adeyemi, defender Sol Bamba and striker Mirco Antenucci are pushing for recalls.

Bristol City interim manager John Pemberton appears set to shuffle his pack after using seven academy graduates - Max O'Leary, Bobby Reid and Wes Burns in the starting XI, and Jojo Wollacott, Zak Vyner, Joe Morrell and Joe Bryan on the bench - for Tuesday's FA Cup third-round replay loss against West Brom.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't have one eye on the Leeds game on Saturday when selecting the team," Pemberton said on the Robins' website after the midweek game.

"The lads who came in will all benefit from the time on the pitch and will be in a better position when I need to call on them again. We've got fixtures coming up thick and fast so need that."

Midfielder Korey Smith should be back in contention after a leg injury for the trip to Elland Road, while Pemberton said at his pre-match press conference that he would have no issue starting with new loanees Alex Pearce and Ben Gladwin as Bristol City look to climb out of the relegation zone.
