Leeds tie up rookie defender

Leeds have handed a one-year professional contract to youngster Zac Thompson. The 18-year-old right-back has impressed since arriving from Everton as a second-year scholar this season, making 12 appearances for the club`s Under-18 side and seven for the reserves. Leeds also have the option to extend Thompson`s deal by another year. Manager Simon Grayson has high hopes for the defender, and told the club`s official website: "Zac`s done well, we feel he`s got a good future. He`s got a good work ethic and plenty of potential. "He`s now got time to develop and we`ll be looking to see him pushing to be in and around the first team."
