A flurry of early goals propelled Leeds United to an impressive 4-0 victory against lacklustre Lincoln in the Carling Cup first round at Elland Road. The npower Championship side recovered from an opening day defeat to Derby in emphatic fashion and were set on the way by first half goals from Jonathan Howson, Luciano Becchio and Lloyd Sam. Neil Kilkenny's penalty added to the tally after the break as the Imps were condemned to an opening round exit for the fifth successive season, while United continued their impressive record of never being knocked out in the competition's first round.
