Leeds Enquire About Clingan

15 July 2011 12:41
Leeds United have enquired about the availability of Coventry's Sammy Clingan as they look to further bolster the midfield. With the Whites having already sold Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny  this summer, Simon Grayson is keen to further strengthen his squad before the start of the new campaign and could now be poised to make an offer. Clingan has yet to agree a new deal with Coventry and has just one year remaining on his contract, meaning he could walk away from the Richo Arena for nothing next summer, something his club want to avoid. The 27-year-old Northern Ireland international began his career with Wolves as a youngster before going on to play for Chesterfield, Nottingham Forest and Norwich. If Clingan were to sign with the Whites, he would become the club's second midfield signing of the season as Grayson completed the transfer of Michael Brown from Portsmouth earlier this week.
