The experienced stopper was snapped up by manager Simon Grayson last summer on a one-year contract.[LNB]Higgs has claimed Leeds' number one jersey ahead of Casper Ankergren and become a popular player with fans.[LNB]The 32-year-old was rewarded with a year's extension last week and he is pleased he has made an early impact.[LNB]"I'm very pleased," he told the club's official website.[LNB]"I came in the summer knowing I would be providing competition for Casper, but at the same time not really knowing what to expect.[LNB]"I knew he'd been here for two or three years and played a lot of games. He's a good guy and we've got good competition.[LNB]"I knew I had to find form quickly and things went pretty well until the injury."[LNB]Higgs was signed from Cheltenham and the experienced shot-stopper says he always believed his ability to play for a bigger club.[LNB]"I've always believed in myself that I was good enough to do what I've got to do," he continued.[LNB]"If you do well contracts come with that - you tend to go year by year - but I'm pleased with the way it's gone so far.[LNB]"At home you're playing in front of 20,000 plus every week and whenever you go away, it's always full and you have to be on top of your game.[LNB]"You're not involved in games as much as I was at Cheltenham, but you still have to concentrate all the time and be ready when needed.[LNB]"We've had a great start and we've maintained it so far. We have to keep it going."[LNB]Higgs is on the sidelines after aggravating a thigh injury against Norwich and wants to take things much slower after rushing his last comeback.[LNB]"Now we're taking a slower approach to make sure it doesn't happen again. It'll be a couple more weeks yet, but we're not setting a target this time.[LNB]"We looked at Norwich as a target last time and I did feel good, but they say there's always a chance you can do the same again if you come back too quickly, and I felt it go again.[LNB]"It is a bit frustrating, but the team is doing well and we're at the top of the table." [LNB][LNB] Leeds Evens, Draw 12/5, Brighton 11/4
