Grayson sets sights on McCartney extension

Simon Grayson is keen on extending Sunderland defender George McCartney's loan spell at Leeds. McCartney, 29, has made five appearances for Leeds since arriving on September 23 in time to make his debut in the home win over Sheffield United, but under the current agreement will play his last game for Grayson's side against Cardiff on Monday. Grayson said: "We're delighted with how George has done. He was ill at Middlesbrough and he was still fatigued when we played against Leicester on Tuesday because he hadn't trained. "But he's showed the qualities he's got while he's been here and he will only get better with playing games. "I've spoken to Steve Bruce about the situation and if there's a deal to be done it might benefit everyone."
