Gifted Young Spurs Centre-Half Next Signing?

Leeds United are close to signing young Spurs centre-half Steven Caulker on a season long-loan deal. According to a report in The Mirror, United have moved to snap up the promising England U-19 star in time for the start of the new season. The towering 18-year-old impressed at the European U-19 Championship earlier this month helping Noel Blake's side reach the semi-final. It is said Leeds had to fight off a host of rival suitors to prise the defender away from White Hart Lane. However, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is thought to have earmarked a big future for Caulker and the Barclays Premier League club will not allow him to leave on a permanent basis. Caulker could make his Elland Road debut on Saturday when the Whites take on Derby in their opening game of the new campaign.Personal informationFull nameSteven Roy CaulkerDate of birth29 December 1991 (1991-12-29) (age 18)Place of birthFeltham, London, EnglandHeight6 ft 3 in (1.91 m)Playing positionDefenderClub informationCurrent clubTottenham HotspurYouth career2007-2009Tottenham HotspurSenior career*YearsTeamApps†(Gls)†2008-Tottenham Hotspur0(0)2009-2010→ Yeovil Town (loan)44(0)National team‡2009-England U1911(0)* Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of 21:08, 5 May 2010 (UTC).† Appearances (Goals).‡ National team caps and goals correct as of 08:28, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
