George McCartney has revealed Leeds and Northern Ireland coach Glynn Snodin as well as former striker David Healy helped convince him to join the Whites on loan. Sunderland defender McCartney, 29, has joined on loan for a month and will go straight into Leeds' squad for Saturday's derby clash with Sheffield United. McCartney said: "I know Glynn from Northern Ireland and West Ham. He's a top bloke and a really good coach and he was a big factor in coming to Leeds. "I'm also really good friends with Dave. He was a big player down here and he told me what a good club this is. "Having said all that, I know from watching how big this club is, and Saturday is a big game with a big crowd which should be great. "I wasn't part of the manager's plans at Sunderland and I'm not one for sitting around and waiting. This is a great opportunity to play a few games and hopefully make an impact."
