Leeds midfielder Adam Clayton is one of six first-team players placed on the transfer list by manager Neil Warnock.

Clayton, strikers Ramon Nunez and Billy Paynter, defenders Paul Connolly and Andy O'Brien, plus goalkeeper Paul Rachubka have all been told they do not feature in Warnock's promotion plans next season.

Five other players - defender Alex Bruce, winger Lloyd Sam, forwards Mikael Forssell and Danny Webber and goalkeeper Maik Taylor - will not be getting new deals after reaching the end of their contracts.

Warnock, who has made no secret of his intended clear-out at Elland Road during the close season, met each of his first-team squad individually on Wednesday and informed them of his plans.

Clayton, signed from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2010 after a month's loan spell, has had an impressive season since making his first-team breakthrough at Elland Road in August under previous manager Simon Grayson.

The 23-year-old has made 46 appearances this season, 50 in total, and has scored six goals, including his effort at Leicester in November which was voted goal of the season by Leeds fans.
