Bruce desperate to keep shirt

Leeds defender Alex Bruce has spoken of his frustration at having to wait over a month before making his league debut for the club. The 25-year-old, who signed a two-year deal at Elland Road when arriving from Ipswich for an undisclosed fee in August, made his first league start in Friday night's goalless draw at Doncaster and is hell-bent on keeping the shirt. Bruce said: "I thought I did OK but there's always room for improvement. For my debut, keeping a clean sheet was pleasing. I was desperate to do well. "It's frustrating when you're not in the team and I've always thought that if you want to sit on the bench there's something wrong with you. "When you come to a club like Leeds and you see the fantastic support and the big atmospheres you want to play. "Hopefully I took my opportunity and I want to keep my standards high and stay in the team."
