Book Now To Find The Promised Land!

This June (22 - 30 June 2012) Leeds United will be the focal point of a new play being staged at the Carriageworks Theatre in Millennium Square.   LEEDS FANS, BOOK NOW TO FIND THE PROMISED LAND!

A 35-strong community cast of actors and musicians will bring to life an adaptation of Anthony Clavane’s award-winning book PROMISED LAND.

The cast and band were selected to take part in the play through open auditions held in March. They range in age from eighteen to nearly seventy, many are Leeds supporters and season ticket holders, and for some this is also their very first experience of theatre.

Winner of Sports Book of the Year 2011, ‘Promised Land’ tells the story of Leeds, its football club and its communities. The stage adaptation tells that same story through the eyes of Nathan and Caitlin, two young idealists growing up in mid-1970s Leeds, living in the same city but on opposite sides of a cultural and religious divide. Moving from the 1900s to the early 1960s and then on to the mid-1970s, this new play is a large-scale celebration of Leeds: the city, the people and the football club.

The cast assembled for a team photograph earlier this month on the steps of the Civic Theatre in Millennium Square, Leeds and were thrilled to be joined by Leeds Manager Neil Warnock, Leeds legend Peter Lorimer, as well as Anthony Clavane, Red Ladder’s Rod Dixon, Chris Lloyd and Chairman Cllr. Bernard Atha and Helen Beckett, Associate Director of Town Centre Securities who are sponsors of the show.

Tickets are priced at £11.50 but for Leeds United season ticket holders and members there is more than a 25% reduction meaning all seats are £8.00 each when you quote your membership number.
