Billy Back In The Reckoning

Billy Paynter will be available for Saturday's match at Ipswich Town after returning to full training. Paynter has recovered from a thigh strain suffered on the first weekend of the season and the striker is in contention to travel to Suffolk, but Michael Brown is likely to miss out again due to a lingering calf problem. Brown was unable to take part in either of United’s games against West Ham United and Doncaster Rovers, and manager Simon Grayson indicated that he would leave the midfielder on the sidelines until after the forthcoming international break. But Paynter began training with Leeds’ senior players at the start of this week and has a chance of making the bench at Portman Road following a five-game absence. Grayson said: “Billy trained on Monday and again on Tuesday morning, but Michael Brown isn’t going to be rushed. “He (Brown) might still make it for the weekend but we’ve got a two-week break after that game and it’s a chance for the injured players to get themselves fit again.” Young right-back Tom Lees missed Tuesday’s Carling Cup tie at Doncaster with a minor knock and hamstring strains prevented Leigh Bromby and Ben Parker from featuring in the second-round clash.
