Beckford back for Shrimpers trip
Five-goal Beckford missed last Saturday's League One win over Stockport due to a hamstring strain and Mike Grella seized his chance alongside Luciano Becchio, scoring just seven minutes into his full debut.
Grayson must decide whether to drop Grella to the bench or ease Beckford back from injury by keeping faith with the American striker at Roots Hall.
Patrick Kisnorbo has returned unscathed from international duty with Australia and is expected to partner either Leigh Bromby or Lubo Michalik in central defence, but Grayson will be reluctant to tinker with a winning team.
Recent signing Bromby partnered Michalik last week and helped the side keep a clean sheet. Rui Marques is struggling with a knock and skipper Richard Naylor, recovering from back surgery in the summer, is expected to return to contention next week.
Ben Parker is another player nearing a return to action following a thigh injury sustained against Exeter on the opening day.
