Becchio deserved his hat-trick - Grayson
Luciano Becchio fully deserved his hat-trick against Bristol City after being "battered from pillar to post in the past few weeks", according to manager Simon Grayson.
Argentinian Becchio, who has been on the receiving end of some controversial late challenges in recent matches, took his goal tally at the weekend to nine with an 18-minute hat-trick in the 3-1 victory at Elland Road.
Grayson said: "Luciano has been battered from pillar to post over these past few weeks. He's a lone striker who battles and works hard.
"We started Davide (Somma) on Saturday and always had Luciano up our sleeve. The goals came from some great balls in and some great movement.
"He was in the right place at the right time and got on the end of things. He's got his just rewards when maybe he hasn't been rewarded over the past few weeks. I was delighted for him. He's a great lad to work with."
