A goal from Jermaine Beckford was enough to seal Leeds' place in the fourth round at the expense of the Premier League champions.

Bates told the club's official website: "It was tremendous. The whole thing was fantastic. It was a great performance.

"I told Simon (Grayson) a few days before 'nobody is expecting anything - go there and enjoy yourselves', but he said 'we're not going there to enjoy ourselves, we're going to get stuck in and get among them'.

"And so it proved. We out-fought them, we out-ran them, and we out-tackled them."

Boss Grayson is among the candidates for December's League One manager of the month award, while Beckford has been nominated for the players' accolade.
