Andrews Set For Town Loan

Leeds United have lost out in the race to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Keith Andrews. Representatives of the 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international, down the pecking order at Ewood Park, had been speaking with a host of Championship clubs, including Leeds, about a proposed season-long loan deal. But Ipswich Town appear to have won the race for the signature of Andrews, also strongly linked with Nottingham Forest, and are expected to wrap up his signing shortly. It’s the second time United are believed to have been thwarted in their bid to sign Andrews, with loan interest in the former Wolverhampton Wanderers and MK Dons man – who still has two seasons left on his Rovers deal – rebuffed back in March. Andrews’ agent Will Salthouse confirmed: “Keith won’t be coming to Leeds. “Leeds are still interested (in the future), but he just feels there’s an opportunity somewhere else and at this moment in time, it’s the best opportunity for him. “They may be a change in the future, but at the moment, he won’t be coming. “I had a long chat with Simon (Grayson) and (technical director) Gwyn Williams. It was a close decision, but he won’t be joining. “There have been seven or eight of the top Championship clubs interested in him and the decision has been made on the fact that he’s found the club where he’s comfortable and feels he can develop again.”
