Pandev wins Lazio release

FYR Macedonia striker Goran Pandev is a free agent after being allowed to cancel his contract with Lazio due to a Lega Calcio tribunal ruling.

The 26-year-old has been frozen out by the side form the Italian capital this season, following a dispute with club president Claudio Lotitio over a new contract.

Pandev said after being released from the final months of his Lazio deal: "I am so very happy, it is the end of a nightmare. It is something I never expected and would not want to go through again.

"I'm sorry for Lazio, but on the other hand I had to get away from a person who hurt me very much.

"I will always remain a Lazio fan and I thank the supporters. I feel for them, as they're going through a difficult time because they realise who they're dealing with now.

"Lotito and (sporting director) Igli Tare do not deserve to run such a prestigious club."
