Ledesma to remain with Lazio

Lazio midfielder Cristian Ledesma looks set to see out the rest of the season with the Rome club despite his recent efforts to be freed from his contract.

The 27-year-old Agrentinian had hoped to move to Internazionale this month, but that deal looks to have hit a massive stumbling block.

Ledesma's agent, Vincenzo D'Ippolito, told Sky Italia: "Inter made an offer to Lazio of around £8.6million, but it was rejected.

"I think that now the player will remain with Lazio and could even be at (coach) Davide Ballardini's disposal for the next game against Juventus.

"In the summer his price-tag was around £13million. Obviously it has been lowered since then, but I didn't think it would be marked down so much by potential buyers.

"Either he's going to Inter or he will remain at Lazio. As far as I can tell, the Nerazzurri have redirected their focus to another objective."

Meanwhile, Lazio have completed the loan signing of Villarreal's Uruguay midfielder Sebastian Eguren.

The 29-year-old moves to Italy on an initial deal running until the end of the season, with an option in place for a permanent switch if he impresses.
