Ballardini urged to apologise

Lazio head coach David Ballardini has been urged to apologise to forward Mauro Zarate over his outspoken outburst over the player's performance in the recent 4-1 win over Livorno.

Zarate's agent and brother, Sergio, has warned that his sibling will leave the club at the end of the season unless the air is cleared by Ballardini.

He told Il Corriere Dello Sport: "Ballardini doesn't understand the football code inside the dressing room. His words are incredible and I still cannot understand his reasons for them.

"He has made a big mistake and has shown a lack of respect. I have been in football for 30 years and you speak about players inside the dressing room, not outside.

"I hope this situation is resolved and I think that Ballardini has only one way to get out of it - apologise to Mauro because he made a mistake.

"If the situation carries on like this, then at the end of the season one or the other will leave Lazio."
