Ballardini set for Lazio job

Former Palermo boss Davide Ballardini is set to be confirmed as the new coach of Lazio.

Ballardini resigned after leading the Sicilian club to an eighth place finish in Serie A this season but is set to make a swift return to management at the Stadio Olimpico.

Delio Rossi stepped down as Lazio coach following the end of the campaign.

"Lazio is on the stock exchange and has an obligation to communicate this to the market first," explained president Claudio Lotito ahead of the expected confirmation of Ballardini in the hot-seat on Tuesday.

"He is a person that lives on the field 24 hours out of 24 and has the right personality to compete at a sophisticated club like Lazio."
