Podolski out for four weeks

Koln's Germany striker Lukas Podolski has been ruled out for around one month with a back injury.

Podolski, who has suffered with back problems in the past, has been diagnosed with a intervertebral disc problem which requires a period of rest.

"We have to be careful with this kind of injury," explained Koln coach Zvonimir Soldo.

"I expect him to be out of action for three weeks, but he could very well be unavailable a bit longer."

Podolski has recently been assured that he will be part of Germany's World Cup squad by coach Joachim Low despite scoring just one Bundesliga goal during the first half of the season.
