Novakovic unhappy with Koln

Captain Milivoje Novakovic has warned he could quit Koln after becoming embroiled in a club versus country row.

The Bundesliga club and Slovenia were reported to have reached an agreement that the 30-year-old striker would not be required for international duty last week.

But rather than rest a minor injury, Novakovic played 45 minutes for Slovenia against San Marino and has found himself in hot water with his paymasters.

"I know I made a mistake but it wasn't a decision against Koln or anybody else," he explained.

"In Slovenia a lot of people value what I do, but that doesn't seem to matter to some people in Koln.

"I have done a lot for the club and I believe I have to get a little in return."

Novakovic was dropped to the bench for last weekend's Bundesliga defeat by Wolfsburg.
