Germany coach Joachim Low has assured Lukas Podolski that a move back to former club Koln from Bayern Munich will not harm his international chances.
The unsettled striker is keen to leave Bayern due to a lack of starting opportunities and could be on his way back to the RheinEnergieStadion for a fee of around ten million euros.
"Lukas is someone who has to play for his club. If that is the case again, he will come in to the national team with great self-confidence," said Low.
"At Koln, he would be a leading player who would have to take on responsibility.
"I think that would be rather good for his development and ultimately the national team would also profit from that."
