Koln allow Maniche to move on

Koln have released veteran midfielder Maniche following a disappointing Bundesliga season.

The RheinEnergieStadion outfit flirted with relegation before finally finishing 13th in the final table.

Maniche made 30 appearances for Zvonimir Soldo's side but the 33-year-old Portugal international was regularly singled out for criticism by disgruntled fans.

"We have granted Maniche's wish to go back to his family in his home country of Portugal," said sporting director Michael Meier.

"We thank Maniche for his work and wish him and his family all the best for the future."
