Geromel pledges Koln future

Key defender Pedro Geromel has provided Koln with a timely boost after agreeing a two-year contract extension.

The Brazilian centre-half has pledged his future to the club just 24 hours after they lost coach Christophe Daum to Fenerbahce.

Geromel is now contracted to the Rhein-Energie Stadion outfit until summer 2014.

"We are delighted that Pedro Geromel has bound himself long term," general manager Michael Meier told the club's official website.

"Pedro was an absolute rock in our defence in his first season in the Bundesliga.

"His decision to extend his contract is an indication that he feels good here and that he sees good prospects for his future sporting development."
