Daum ends reign at Koln

Christoph Daum has stepped down as Koln coach in preparation to return to former club Fenerbahce.

Daum has agreed a two-year deal to replace the sacked Luis Aragones at the Turkish side.

The 55-year-old coach had 12 months remaining on his contract at the RheinEnergieStadion, but did have an option to walk away at the end of the recently completed Bundesliga season.

The German coach led Fenerbahce to two league title during his initial spell in Turkey, which ran from 2003 to 2006.

"My decision is not going against Cologne but in favour of new challenges," said Daum.

"I have the chance to play internationally (in the Europa League) right away which for me as a coach is a major challenge and wish."
