Colognes Podolski in no hurry over future plans

Published: 01 Nov 2011 - 09:00:19

Cologne's German international striker Lukas Podolski said Monday he was in no rush to extend his contract beyond 2013 and that his future remains "open" thereafter.

"I do not want to rush into a decision on my future - I have always said it is open and that I preferred to see how the club was developing," Podolski, 26, told the Express newspaper.

Cologne are keen to tie Podolski down to a longer deal given that "Prinz Poldi" has netted eight goals this season - including two in Saturday's win over Augsburg.

"There have been no talks as yet and I think the issue could only be a source of trouble at the heart of the club," opined Podolski. "The important thing is we already have 16 points. I am happy things are going well for me."

Cologne have won five, drawn one and lost five games this season and stand in midtable.
