Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies is hoping that new signing Mehdi Taouil will impress enough to earn a long-term stay at Rugby Park.
The 24-year-old former Nancy, Montpellier and Nurnberg schemer made his Killie debut in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Falkirk, having initially joined until the end of the year.
Jefferies told the Kilmarnock Standard: "We were tipped off about him and gave him the opportunity to train with us so we could have a closer look at him.
"The fact that he impressed us in training and has a decent pedigree convinced me to sign him until the end of the year.
"It's a great opportunity for him to show what he can do at this level. If he does well hopefully we'll sign him on a longer-term contract."
