Silva sets sights on England

David Silva has already made his mark on the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with his attacking prowess - a fact he hopes will not go unnoticed by clubs in England.

The Portuguese winger continued a promising start to his Kilmarnock career by netting his first goal for the club in their midweek victory over Hibernian in the Co-operative Insurance Cup. The former CSKA Sofia player has tasted the highest level before, playing as a youngster at Porto, and that has left him hungry for more.

"The Scottish championship is very strong and they have good teams that play in Europe, so I think it's a good standard. The level here is good, but you are close to England and it can help you get a move there," said Silva.

"Every player is looking upon this as a stepping stone, but first we have to think about the team we are in and try to help them get the best results we can."

Those results have come quickly for Mixu Paatelainen's new-look side, who have played with a renewed confidence and style to win four out of their first seven matches.

Silva himself has made a speedy recovery from a hamstring injury and is confident that the team can continue their form.

"We have to keep going and playing well and trying to get results," he said.

"I think the team is playing a good passing game and I feel we can beat any team at the moment. I was really happy because the team won and I scored my first goal for them.

"I hope I can score a lot more and help the team win. But if the team is winning and I'm not scoring I'll still be happy."
