Kilmarnock have confirmed Kenny Shiels as the club's assistant manager.

Shiels joins the backroom staff at Rugby Park following the appointment of new boss Mixu Paatelainen. He takes on the role after three years as head of youth at Tranmere Rovers.

Shiels' CV also includes spells as manager of Coleraine, Ballymena, Larne and Carrick Rangers, as well as being coach of the Northern Ireland under-17 squad, which he took to the European finals.

A statement on the club's official website read: "On behalf of all players, management, staff and supporters at Kilmarnock Football Club, we welcome Kenny to the club."
