Sammon hails Eremenko

Connor Sammon heaped praise on new signing Alexei Eremenko after he set up his opening goal in the 2-1 defeat to Celtic. Sammon struck in the seventh minute to give his side the lead, but goals from Daryl Murphy and Anthony Stokes saw the points return to Glasgow.

But Sammon is delighted with the impact of Eremenko. The Irishman said: "His range of passing is unbelievable and in training last week I was calling him the quarterback.

"No matter what run I was making he would find me.

"That happened yesterday and I know if I make clever runs, he has the quality to pick me out. "With my Irish roots I will probably get a bit of stick for scoring against Celtic but it's just a pity we didn't hold on and it wasn't a winning goal."
