Rival bosses buoyed by thriller

Killie ended a five-game run without an SPL goal in style with goals from Kevin Kyle, Manuel Pascali and Craig Bryson overturning a 3-1 deficit, but Jon Daly levelled the scores with a 66th-minute penalty.[LNB]Calderwood was pleased with his struggling team's spirit after some sloppy defending gave them an uphill struggle. Craig Conway's double put United in the driving seat after Kilmarnock defender Simon Ford had cancelled out Prince Buaben's opener.[LNB]"It was a fantastic spectacle for Scottish football, although I don't know whether it was so good for Peter and myself and our hearts," Calderwood said.[LNB]"At 3-1 down you would have been well pleased with a point but I'm a little bit disappointed we didn't win. I felt we more than matched a strong United team who are challenging for Europe. But individual mistakes cost us."[LNB]Houston has now seen his team score seven goals in four days but collect just two points following their midweek draw with St Johnstone.[LNB]"It was a ding-dong of a game and an advert for the Premier League, both teams having a go at each other and end-to-end," Houston said.[LNB]"If I had any hair to lose, I would have lost it today. When you're 3-1 up away from home, you think you can go on to win.[LNB]"Credit to Kilmarnock for coming back but the biggest disappointment for me is we have lost four goals from corner-kicks.[LNB]"I don't think, in the three years I've been here, we have lost four goals from corner-kicks. The positives are we scored three fantastic goals and a penalty-kick."[LNB]Calderwood was delighted to finally see his side score an SPL goal in his fourth league match in charge and hopes the spree heralds an upturn.[LNB]"I'll take a massive boost from it because it's been a long time," he said.[LNB]"Our dead-ball situations were good and we got a few goals from them, and Bryson's goal was fantastic, worthy of winning any game.[LNB]"There was a lot of good football from both teams. There could have been more goals, young Cammy Bell has been wonderful and so was the United keeper, and they have both picked the ball out the net four times."[LNB]Meanwhile, the Killie manager absolved Dougie McDonald of blame after the home fans criticised the referee for the penalty award after Ford tripped Conway.[LNB]"I thought it was a mistake but Jimmy Nicholl has seen the video and I think the referee was right," Calderwood said. "It was a soft penalty but it was a silly challenge from Simon."[LNB][LNB]
