Pascali hopes to avoid relegation battle

Manuel Pascali is desperate to avoid another last-day relegation decider with Kilmarnock this season. Killie`s final game of the 2009/10 campaign saw them survive some desperate late pressure against Falkirk at Rugby Park to retain their Clydesdale Bank Premier League status and send the Bairns down following a goalless draw. Had Falkirk`s Ryan Flynn not volleyed over from 10 yards with minutes remaining Kilmarnock may have found themselves in the Irn-Bru First Division, but as it is, under new boss Mixu Paatelainen, the Ayrshire club are one of the favourites for the drop this season. But Pascali, 28, who was utilised in defence and midfield, hopes to to steer clear of another fraught end to the upcoming campaign which starts with a trip to champions Rangers on Saturday. "Last season was terrible for us," the former Parma player said. "I will never forget that game against Falkirk - they had a great chance with five minutes to go. It was the first time in my life that I had been in that situation and I don`t want to be there again."
