Paatelainen hopes goals can boost league form

Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen hopes that his players can carry their free-scoring form into their league campaign after recording their first victory of the season in the Co-operative Insurance Cup. The Clydesdale Bank Premier League outfit swept Second Division opponents Airdrie United aside 6-2 as Conor Sammon netted a hat-trick and Frazer Wright, Liam Kelly and Mohamadou Sissoko were also on target. Paatelainen takes his team to Pittodrie on Saturday as they search for their first points of the season, and the manager said: "When you score six goals and play well, you take confidence from that. "We realise that it will be a difficult one up in Aberdeen as they've done fantastically well so far with two wins out of two and are really the form team, so it's going to be a tough match for us but we'll go in as always with a positive frame of mind. "I don't envy the boys as the start we've had in the league has been very difficult, with Rangers away, then Motherwell who are a very good team and now Aberdeen - but we'll take lots from this match. "Scoring six goals is tremendous and having a player score a hat-trick is another big bonus, so we'll take a lot of confidence from this."
