Mixu Paatelainen has been confirmed as the new manager of Kilmarnock.
The 43-year-old former Finland international met the media at Rugby Park on Wednesday afternoon where he was announced as successor to Jimmy Calderwood, who left at the end of the season.
Paatelainen has been out of football since leaving Hibernian in May 2009.
The Finn will have to work under the same budget cuts which led to Calderwood's refusal to return following a short spell as boss at the end of last season.
Killie chairman Michael Johnston reportedly spoke to a host of candidates including Gus MacPherson, Malcolm Crosby, Alex Rae, Lawrie McKinna and former Hearts bosses John Robertson and Csaba Laszlo.
German World Cup winner Thomas Haessler withdrew his application on family grounds, while compensation ruled out a move for first target, the Blackburn coach Steve Kean.
Prior to his 16-month spell in charge at Easter Road, Paatelainen managed TPS in his homeland and Cowdenbeath.
The former striker turned out for a host of clubs, including Dundee United, Aberdeen, Bolton and Wolves.
Paatelainen, who also had two spells as a player with Hibs, replaced John Collins in the Hibs hot seat.
