Owens handed Killie chance

Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies has snapped up the former Middlesbrough winger Graeme Owens on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old spent a brief period at the end of last season training with the rest of the Killie squad and impressed Jefferies.

"With the Under-21 ruling still in place, we needed someone who qualified for the bench," Jefferies told the BBC.

"But we also think he could break into the first team fairly quickly."

Owens made only one first-team appearance for Boro although he does have some more experience from loan spells with Chesterfield and Blackpool.
