Naismith close to exit

Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies has given up hope of persuading highly-rated striker Steven Naismith to remain at Rugby Park.

Rangers, who have already had four bids rejected for the 20-year-old, remain favourites to finally clinch Naismith's signature before the start of the season.

Jefferies told the Daily Express: "I've resigned myself to the fact Stevie is going.

"Whether it takes a few days or a few weeks we don't know. If Rangers do agree on a fee then I think he would go there.

"I would be very happy to have him here for next season but we can't hold the boy back."
