MacPherson: It's not over yet

Gus MacPherson warned there is still plenty of hard work to be done before St Mirren seal their SPL survival despite the win over Kilmarnock.[LNB] Andy Dorman grabbed the only goal of Saturday's game in a tense SPL relegation scrap in Paisley, with both clubs desperate to pull away from the danger zone.[LNB]The win - combined with bottom club Falkirk's defeat against Hamilton - means Saints are now four points clear of the drop zone, with an important meeting with rock-bottom Bairns next week.[LNB]"It's three points but nothing is done yet," said MacPherson.[LNB]"Even in the dressing room, it was a bit of an anti-climax, it was very low key.[LNB]"We are delighted to win the game but but we understand there is work still to be done. We've drawn too many games at home this season and you could see the tension involved today."[LNB]MacPherson believes the one attribute in Saints' favour as they battle to retain their SPL status in these final few games is their character.[LNB]He added: "They've got that in abundance and have shown that for a number of months. We've got deficiencies but the one thing that can't be criticised is the character."[LNB]The win was soured slightly by the sight of Hugh Murray leaving the pitch on a stretcher after eight minutes of treatment on the park following a collision with Killie striker Kevin Kyle.[LNB]But MacPherson hopes the veteran midfielder will be back in action for next week's game against the Bairns despite being knocked out cold.[LNB]"He seems to be okay," said the Buddies boss.[LNB]"I believe he was unconscious when the physio went on but he is up and walking about. We just need to monitor the situation for the next 72 hours to make sure there is no reaction."[LNB]Kyle admits he thought he had snatched a point for Killie in the dying seconds - only to be thwarted by the heroics of Saints goalkeeper Paul Gallacher.[LNB]He said: "I couldn't have hit the header any cleaner and I was waiting to see it hit the back of the net but Paul Gallacher has jumped in front of me and it's hit his knee.[LNB]"You know it's not going to be your day and St Mirren held on and got the three points, which were badly needed for both teams."[LNB]The striker added: "I think over the 90 minutes, we were by far the better team. But it's goals that count and St Mirren got the goal and we didn't and they got the three points.[LNB]"We are all very disappointed in the dressing room because we had a good travelling support up today but the encouraging thing is that we played well and hopefully our luck will change in front of goal."
