Kilmarnock midfielder Peter Leven has agreed a new two-and-a-half year contract with the Rugby Park club.

The former Rangers youngster has impressed Killie boss Jim Jefferies while on a short-term deal with the club and has penned a new contract to stay on on a long-term basis.

Jefferies told the Daily Record: "Peter was overweight, but he showed a lot of ability.

"I told him to come back to us when he had lost a stone and when he returned Peter was lean and ready to go."

Jefferies has now turned his attentions to agreeing a new contract with Gary McDonald, with a three-year deal on the table.
