Laszlo delighted with Elliot effort

The former Scotland Under-21 international ensured the hosts went in at the break ahead after Danny Invincibile gave the Ayrshire side the lead in the eighth minute. Hearts made sure of the points following the restart when Bruno Aguiar hit a third although they could have won by a greater margin as the same player also missed a penalty. Elliot, whose confidence was dented last season when he was even subjected to boos from his own supporters, was given a standing ovation when he was replaced a minute from the end and Laszlo was full of praise for the marksman. Laszlo, whose side are now seven points clear in third place in the SPL, said: "I was very happy with Calum Elliot's performance, not only for the two goals. "He is a guy that does not talk too much, he is quiet and does not want to be centre of attention. "Against Kilmarnock, the team helped him. Elliot's goals were not easy, especially the second goal. It was a fantastic goal and I appreciate it. "I must also compliment the fans, especially the relationship between Elliot and the fans. "We took a very big step, it was very positive." Invincibile struck for Kilmarnock against the run of play with a far-post header. However, Elliot levelled in the 22nd minute when he bundled the ball over the line after Alan Combe saved Marius Zaliukas' effort. Elliot then added his second six minutes later with a clinical near-post finish. Aguiar scored the third with a close-range shot five minutes after the restart. And, even though the supporters were shouting for Elliot to be given the chance to notch his hat-trick, Aguiar stepped up and missed a penalty on the hour mark after hitting the ball against the post. Kilmarnock remain just three points above basement side Falkirk in the SPL and manager Jim Jefferies insists they are all aware they are stuck in a relegation dogfight ahead of next week's clash with the Bairns. Jefferies said: "We were in a precarious position before the game. We have been for about three weeks and so have five other clubs. "After the split there is going to be a few massive games. "We got off to a terrific start against Hearts, it was a terrific ball and a great header but we gave them too much room. "To get in front was a bonus but we never put them under pressure. "I don't think you'll see a better chance all season with Ryan O'Leary but you have to put that ball in the net before you find out if you can put them under pressure."
