Kyle wasn't sure of facing Accies

The striker netted a first-half volley and then lashed a spectacular long-range strike high into the visitors' net, and insisted his double can mark the continuation of his remarkable run of seven goals in the final four games of last term. He said: "I can't get any more confident and I've just got to keep doing what I'm doing; I've started the season like I finished the last one. "During pre-season I got through all the running and the physical side of things, but in a friendly we had in Italy my stomach muscles pulled and I had to sit out the next three-and-a-half weeks. "I only started training last Monday and even on Wednesday or Thursday this week I was thinking of telling the gaffer I couldn't get through 90 minutes and I'd be struggling. "But I'm the captain, I'm supposed to go out there and do my bit for the team, so when I woke up on the morning of the game, I thought, 'nah, I'm playing - whether it's 20 minutes or five minutes, I want to be out there', because of the thought of a goal. "To be really honest, I've never been renowned for scoring a lot of goals; I did well at Sunderland but since that season I've been injured and stop-start. "I'm not a natural goalscorer like Kris Boyd, Derek Riordan or Scott McDonald, but I always feel that if I'm playing week-in, week-out in a team that's creating chances, I'll get my fair share." Kyle, who earned nine Scotland caps earlier in his career, is certain that he can continue his outstanding scoring run in the blue and white of Kilmarnock. He said: "Managers want strikers who score goals - I'm in a really good vein of form just now and I can't see it stopping because the team is playing well and creating chances. "As soon as there's an opportunity I'm hungry for it, I'm eager and itching to put it in; I haven't had that hunger for a long time and it's great when you have that desire to get the goals. "People are going to take notice of that so I've got to keep doing it, and then you never know. "Most importantly, I'm pleased to get the three points because the team was absolutely fantastic - we were in Hamilton's faces from the word go, played some really good football and we're off to a flyer." New Hamilton signing Izzy Iriekpen captained a Hamilton side in which six debutants were handed starting places. The defender, who joined the Lanarkshire side from Bristol City, was hugely disappointed by the 3-0 defeat but says that the team will be transformed once their six missing players are back from injury and suspension. He said: "Obviously we're very disappointed but it's our first game, the gaffer has a few more players to get and is working hard to gel the team together - and we will get there. "We have a lot of new players getting to know each other and haven't really had long together, and we're missing a lot of influential players like Alex Neil, the captain, and James McArthur. "The first goal killed us because we were on top then but it was a silly schoolboy error and Kilmarnock went on from there and got confidence. "It's disappointing to lose like this and players tend to go home and think about the game, but I really can't wait for the next game to come now - we have to get this match out of our heads and look forward to that. "We want to finish in the top half of the table so we really need to work hard and there's no chance we can lose 3-0 like this again, but although the SPL is a tough league, we'll definitely be OK."
