Kyle ready for Scotland recall

Kyle watched Scotland's 4-0 defeat by Norway on Wednesday and came away thinking he could have given the team an added dimension with his height and strength.[LNB]The target man won the last of his nine caps in 2004 after being thrust into the international arena by Berti Vogts as an untried 20-year-old Sunderland reserve.[LNB]But Kyle re-emerged as a contender when he netted seven goals in four games to keep Killie in the Scottish Premier League last season.[LNB]And the 28-year-old, who has been passed fit for the SPL opener against Hamilton after overcoming a stomach strain, believes he is now much more equipped for international football.[LNB]He said: "I said for a long time I never thought it would happen again but after last year when people started talking about it again, I thought 'well, I'm a bit more mature and wiser'.[LNB]"Before, I wasn't really ready to play for Scotland but now I feel as though I am.[LNB]"If I can score goals every week, then why not? I watched the game the other night and I thought they could have done with a big lump up front to hold the ball up and give the team a bit of time to get up the park.[LNB]"I thought 'if I can do my bit for Kilmarnock week-in and week-out then I'm different from what Scotland have got just now'. There is an opportunity there and it's up to me."[LNB]While giant striker John Carew was tormenting the Scotland defence, Burley was unable to bring on a target man to ease the pressure following centre-back Gary Caldwell's red card.[LNB]"Obviously John Carew has got more attributes than I have, but his pure size and strength caused all sorts of problems for Scotland," Kyle added.[LNB]"That's maybe what Scotland need. I'm not saying I'm the one who is going to do that, but a different option would maybe be myself or a Colin Nish-type person who is big, physical, holds the ball up and chips in with the odd goal.[LNB]"If it happens, it happens and I would really appreciate it but the most important thing is doing well with Kilmarnock."[LNB]Kyle's hopes of winning a recall for the World Cup double-header against Macedonia and Holland next month have not been helped by his muscle strain.[LNB]The former Coventry forward missed three weeks of training after returning from a hernia operation during Killie's intensive pre-season camp in Italy.[LNB]But he has trained since Sunday and is looking to hit the ground running against Accies at Rugby Park.[LNB]"I might not be as lively as last year but if the opportunity comes I'm quite confident of getting a goal," he said.[LNB]"I'm looking forward to getting involved and getting the captain's armband and shouting and yelling.[LNB]"Hopefully that will help me progress as a player - the captain has got to be playing well every week.[LNB]"I think everyone expects me to bang in every single goal for Kilmarnock this season and it is going to be a big ask, but I've got big shoes and big feet and hopefully I can do the business again."[LNB][LNB] Kilmarnock 10/11, Draw 12/5, Hamilton 16/5
