Kyle keen to make up for lost time

Kevin Kyle is determined to repay Kilmarnock after missing three games because of an injury picked up while on trial with Spartak Nalchik.[LNB] Killie failed to score in three successive defeats but Kyle has recovered from a groin problem ahead of Wednesday's Scottish Premier League visit of Hamilton.[LNB]Kyle's experience of playing for Nalchik in a friendly in Turkey put him off moving to Russia and he is now focused on helping Kilmarnock get out of relegation danger.[LNB]"I've been carrying niggles all season and I aggravated something when I was away," Kyle said.[LNB]"Unfortunately I missed three games but I've recharged the batteries.[LNB]"The games I've missed I've been watching and we've had opportunities.[LNB]"Sitting watching, I was thinking 'this is typical, we're crossing the ball and every time I play we don't cross'.[LNB]"So hopefully we can get a few crosses into the box and I can do what I do best and get on the end of them, because I kind of owe it to my team-mates after getting an injury by being away at another team."[LNB]Kyle found it "strange" playing for a team without any English speakers and would not be tempted by Spartak's lucrative wages.[LNB]"Obviously if I went there it would take time to learn the language and I just didn't enjoy the experience of being out there on my own," the 28-year-old said.[LNB]"I thought, if I was to sign, what would it be like without any family out there because obviously my girlfriend would find it difficult to make the move and I have a little kid in Sunderland.[LNB]"Purely financially what they offered was something I had to go and see for myself but I just realised there are more important things in life than bags of money."[LNB]Kyle has not ruled out staying at Kilmarnock but he is still waiting for contract talks.[LNB]"It's weird, it's not a case of me saying 'no, I'm not going to stay on at Kilmarnock because they haven't offered me anything'," he said.[LNB]"Maybe they don't want me. The gaffer has talked briefly about it, that he has let the chairman know that he recommended I am one of the players they try to keep on.[LNB]"Until something gets put in front of me then I've got to be open-minded about everything that comes my way.[LNB]"I've got some people talking to me about things down south but until Kilmarnock start talking to me, I can't really do too much.[LNB]"They might wait until they're safe which is fair enough, but at the same time that's no good to me because if we stay up on the last day of the season, then the next day I'm out of a job.[LNB]"But if I do my job properly and we all do our jobs properly we should be safe before then and the chairman can sort out who's staying and who's going."[LNB]Manager Jimmy Calderwood's future is uncertain too with his contract also expiring at the end of the season, but he will prepare for next season nonetheless.[LNB]"We are going to start getting that sorted out with the chairman in the coming weeks," Calderwood said.[LNB]"I said to the chairman I would give him my idea about who I think should be getting new contracts and who I think should be leaving.[LNB]"We've got to decide sooner or later what's going to happen with ourselves."
