Killie confident over Taouil

Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies remains confident that Moroccan midfielder Mehdi Taouil will sign a new contract to stay at Rugby Park next season.

The 25-year-old impressed during his first season with Killie and is rumoured to be attracting interest from a number of clubs north and south of the border.

Jefferies told the Kilmarnock Standard: "I'm in regular contact with Mehdi's agent and, now the player is back in France after his holiday break, I'm arranging to have a chat with him, hopefully by the end of this week.

"I think the signs that he'll be here next season are very good. The fact that it has taken so long isn't something that we're concerned about."

Taouil scored twice in 22 appearances for Killie last term following his arrival from Montpellier.
