Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies is considering handing a short-term deal to former Dundee United player-manager Craig Brewster.
The 40-year-old made four appearances before being sacked by the Terrors earlier this season and Jefferies believes he would help plug the gap left by long-term injury victim David Fernandez.
Jefferies commented: "We've phoned Craig and agreed to meet up for a chat, he is the type who could fill the gap for us.
"I'm sure he'll have other options, but we'll put our case forward and see what happens.
"I don't imagine it will be about money or length of contracts, but he'll have his own thoughts about what he wants to do.
"He seemed delighted when I spoke to him that a club in the top six were interested in him."
