Johnston close to return

Kilmarnock's veteran midfielder Allan Johnston insists he is close to a return to first-team action although he says he won't be rushed back.

The 35-year-old has yet to play this season due to a hamstring tear but is currently training with the first-team squad with a view to playing competitively again this month.

"I'm getting back to full fitness," Johnston told the Kilmarnock Standard.

"I've trained this week and some of last week and I want to make sure I'm 100 per cent right this time.

"The last few times I've tried to rush back too soon and it's not worked out so I don't want that to happen again."
