The 35-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, has not played this season due to a serious hamstring problem.[LNB]The Rugby Park side have sought the advice of a specialist and manager Jim Jefferies revealed they were told Johnston requires surgery if he wants to continue playing.[LNB]Jefferies said in the Herald: "Our physio spoke to a specialist down south who has done this type of operation. He knows the case as Allan has been down there and he said this is a last resort. So we've to let him know if Allan wants it done.[LNB]"I've asked Allan what his thoughts are but if he wants to continue playing football then he's going to need to get the operation done. It's up to Allan to make a decision as to whether he wants to continue playing or not.[LNB]"It's a problem with his hamstring which affects him up his side. He feels it after a game, he feels it when he's running and jogging but he's such a pro that he tries to get through it.[LNB]"He may be able to get away with it at reserve level but he can't at first team level and he knows that.[LNB]"Allan's very honest about it because a couple of times I've wanted to put him on the bench but he's said he would struggle if he had to go on.[LNB]"If he decides to continue playing then we'll need to see if we can take it to the next stage. Even if he doesn't stay here and he still wants to continue playing then he's going to need to get the operation done."[LNB][LNB]
