JJ boosted by Naismith
21 May 2007 - 15:42:52
Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies is confident of fending off interest in star striker Steven Naismith after discovering the youngster's current contract runs until 2010.
The 20-year-old is on the wish list of several clubs either side of the border, but Jefferies believes Killie can keep Naismith at Rugby Park in the immediate future.
He said: "I thought he had a couple of years left on his contract and I was pleasantly surprised when the chairman threw it in front of me the other day and it was three years.
"So he's here until 2010 and we're in no rush to sell him.
"I've said all along it wouldn't bother Steven if he was to be here for another year and I hope he is here for another year.
"For him to leave, it would take something the club really couldn't afford to turn down.
"We would never put a price on his head so, if someone wants him, it's down to how badly they want him."
